Coaching Staff

Spring Training Baseball Academy prides itself on the ability of its instructors to positively communicate with young athletes while leading by example as role models. Our senior staff is comprised of current and former professional and college ball players. Each instructor has applied the baseball fundamentals and "life lessons" they teach everyday to their own successful careers giving the Spring Training staff a unique combination of youthfulness, energy, and experience.

Dan Spring, Director

Dan, a Washington, DC native, was a two-time USA Today High School All-American as well as the Gatorade Player of the Year for DC. He continued his career at Brown University where he was twice selected All-Ivy League as a pitcher while starting at all 9 positions during his 4 years in Providence.

After graduating, Dan was selected in the 2003 MLB draft and pitched professionally in both the Detroit Tigers' and St. Louis Cardinals' Minor League Systems before retiring in August of 2004 and moving to the South Bay.

A long-time coach at Headfirst Baseball (www.PlayHeadfirst.com) in Washington, Dan has been coaching youth sports for almost a decade and is a certified trainer and member of the Positive Coaching Alliance (www.PositiveCoach.org). In addition to working closely with many players and coaches in the Pony and Little Leagues in PV, Dan also works with South Bay youth off the field as an academic coach, mentor, and tutor.
